Remove blank pages from a PDF
Scanned a double-sided stack and half the pages are empty backs? Exported a document with stray blank pages? This tool inspects every page, measures how much ink it actually has and drops the empty ones — in one click, without you counting page numbers. The sensitivity setting handles real-world scans with specks, bleed-through or scanner shadows. Processed locally in your browser.
How to use the Remove blank pages tool
Select or drag your PDF.
Choose the sensitivity (default works for most files).
Click “Remove blank pages” and download the cleaned PDF.
Your files stay on your device
This tool runs entirely in your browser using JavaScript and WebAssembly. There is no upload step and no server processing — open your network panel and check: zero document data is transmitted. It even keeps working offline once the page has loaded.
Frequently asked questions
How does it decide a page is blank?
Each page is rendered and the share of dark pixels is measured, ignoring a thin border where scanner edges and shadows live. Below the sensitivity threshold, the page is treated as empty. Pages with a single line of text are always kept.
My scans have specks — will they be kept as “content”?
Choose the “Noisy scans” sensitivity: it tolerates specks, faint bleed-through and grey backgrounds while still keeping any page with real text or images.
Can I review which pages were removed?
The result tells you how many pages were removed out of the total. If you want full control, use the Organize PDF tool to see thumbnails and delete pages by hand.
Is it safe to use this tool with confidential documents?
Yes — and verifiably so. PDFAgent has no upload step: your file is processed by JavaScript running in your own browser and never leaves your device. You can open your browser’s network panel (or even go offline after loading the page) and confirm that no document data is transmitted.
